The Laboratory of Diagnostics and Prophylaxis serves for scientific research purposes and for the preparation of final theses of bachelor's and engineering students and doctoral dissertations at the Department of Electrical Power Engineering. The laboratory studies the electrophysical properties of liquid and solid high-voltage insulating materials. Their changes during aging under accelerated thermal stress are studied. The laboratory is equipped with instruments and devices that can be used to study the capacitance and dissipation factor of insulating materials. The laboratory has two programmable furnaces in which thermal aging of insulating materials can be carried out. For measuring electrical properties, the laboratory has a manual and automatic bridge for measuring the capacitance and dissipation factor of insulating systems from the company TETEX.
Subjects and learning outcomes:
Bachelor's study: Subject Prophylaxis of electrical power equipment (basic knowledge of the principles and methods of prophylaxis of electrical power equipment, of measuring, testing and inspection equipment in the field of high voltage technology)
Engineering study: Subject Diagnostics in electrical power engineering (knowledge and skills on the correct use of operational diagnostics to determine changes in the insulation system of electrical power equipment due to operational stress for early detection of faults and increasing its service life)
Doctoral study: Subject Scientific activity 1-5.: Ability to independently conceive, construct, implement and modify a substantial part of research with scientific integrity and contribute to the expansion of the boundaries of scientific knowledge through the implementation of an extensive body of work, some of which are worthy of peer-reviewed publication.
